Krishna Leela

One day a messenger came to the Court Hall of Sri Krishna. The message was that, the king Jarasandha captured 20,000 kings and kept them in his prison. The messenger was a Brahmin. He requested that Sri Krishna release the kings. Jarasandha was none other than Kamsa’s father in law.
On this occasion, the triloka sanchari “Naradha,” franck muller casablanca replica came to see Sri Krishna. Naradha brought an invitation for a yagna. “Rajasuya” was the name of yagna. The sender of the invitation was “Yudhistira”, the eldest brother of Pandavas.
Sri Krishna then consulted with Uddhava, who asked the counsellers to analyze the issue. The preference shown on that occasion should be justifiable. Should Sri Krishna attend to the call of the Brahmin messenger, or to the invitation of Yudhistira? It needed a long discussion and then the solution was sought thereafter.
The Rajasuya yagna could not be performed unless all the kings were conquered. Here King Jarasandha was the person of preference, and so he was not conquered by any one yet. Sri Krishna sent back the Brahmin messenger with an assurance that the captured kings would be released by his efforts, which commenced on that spot itself.
Instead of a war with King Jarasandha, and his huge battalions of soldiers, one-on-one man combat for the beating of Jarasandha, was suggested by the team of counsellers. Comparable to the strength of Jarasandha, only Bhima, one of the princes of Pandavas, was chosen to engage in the battle. They planned to send Bhima, as a Brahmin, to the court of Jarasandha. It was the habit of Jarasandha that he never refused the requests of a Brahmin. At Hasthinapura, all the arrangements were made to receive Sri Krishna. Yudhistira was the eldest son of Pandavas. He was also called “Dharma.”
When Sri Krishna arrived at the palace, he was embraced affectionately by Pandavas. He was given a warm welcome with flowers and garlands. His consorts were received affectionately by Matha Kunthi Devi. Pandava’s wife Drawpathi also received them with gifts and garlands. All comforts were provided for the stay of Sri Krishna and his consorts. All their requirements were attended to lavishly.
Yudhistira asked the permission of Sri Krishna to perform the Rajasuya yaga. Sri Krishna readily granted and extended his verse with a question. “You see Yudhistira, before you can do so, you should keep all the kings in your fellowship on this earth. Then only is there a possibility to perform such a great Rajasuya yagna. First you should establish your power all over. There is the King Jarasantha, who has imprisoned 20,000 kings. He also should be conquered.”
After hearing these words Yuthistira replied, “Everything should be bound with justful norms. To conquer all the kings, steps are to be formed”. After this meeting, Yudhistira sent his four brothers to conquer all the kingdoms. They vanquished all the kings and captured a lot of wealth. The only king left now, was Jarasandha. He was most powerful, and possessed secret boons to get his life back when dangerous attacks came. Only a very brilliant and crafty natured person could become victorious by slaying him. Sri Krishna then explained the happenings at his court and the plans conferred by Uddhava and his counselors.
In no way was it under-estimated by the Pandavas. They wasted no time, and they formed their plan. Sri Krishna, Prince Bhima, and Prince Arjuna went to Grivraja, the capital of Jarasandha. After arriving there, they got an audience before King Jarasandha. All three in the form of Brahmin, begged the favour of the king, who was not only a brave soldier, but was also shrewd. He noticed the hands of them and noticed some familiarity. He thought to himself, “King Maha Bali won fame in all worlds by granting the request of a Brahmin who was Lord Vishnu only. Just pampering this body; it is worthless. A Kshatriya should win fame.” He attended to the Brahmins and asked them to put forth their appeal.
Sri Krishna revealed the matter, “We are not Brahmins. Here the two princes of Pandavas have come. My self is Krishna, your daughter’s son. Our object is to meet you for a solitary combat with Bhima.” The King laughed a long time with vengeance, “You, the boy who ran from Mathura to Dwaraka, I am granting your wish. - I will fight with Bhima.” The fight took place for twenty-seven days. Each of them was as brave as the other. On the twenty-eighth day, Bhima went to Sri Krishna and asked for his blessings. Sri Krishna said, “Jarasandha was born as two parts, and one out of them was of “rakshasi” (a devil). She plays her magical spirit. Be wise enough to separate him into two parts.”
After knowing the secret, Bhima, when the crucial occasion came, permitted Jarasantha to put his leg upon his neck, and had the chance to tear him into two pieces. The two pieces were jointly thrown on the ground. From the power of his mother, the two pieces again joined and came alive to fight again with Bhima. Actually, Bhima was just as strong, but not as brilliant as Arjuna. When the fighting was going on again, another chance to tear him into two pieces came. By this critical moment, Bhima saw Sri Krishna, and the signal to throw the two pieces of his body in parallel, was opposed by Sri Krishna. Bhima then came to know the secret, and placed one piece facing the head side and the other piece facing the leg side. The magical matching-up could not be accomplished now. Death finally came; Jarasantha breathed his last and died.
Thus the end of Jarasantha was reached. His son Sahadeva was kept on the throne, and all 20,000 of the kings were released. They touched the feet of Sri Krishna and they worshipped. Krishna told them, “Wealth and power make a man proud. All should know that the body is mortal and on one day, meets death. Therefore, do not show much importance to that. Keep your minds fixed on me, and do your duties with kindheartedness.” After this, Yuthistira was fully qualified to perform the “Rajasuya yagna”. The yagna took place in a grand manner. The honor to Sri Krishna was done with politeness and devotion by Pandavas.
